The AC Golden Brewing Company was founded in 2007 by Pete Coors and Glenn Knippenberg. The tiny 30-barrel brew house is located right in the center of the Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado. Paradoxically, it is one of the smallest breweries in Colorado located within the largest single-site brewery in the world. AC Golden Brewing Company’s mission is to create and develop micro-beers. In the words of the president Glenn Knippenberg, “The mission of the AC Golden Brewing Company is to be a brand incubator for what is now MillerCoors”. The brewery introduced its first brand, Herman Joseph’s Private Reserve, in 2008. “HJ”, as they refer to it is one of the more expensive beers in the world to produce. The company licensed the seasonal brand; Winterfest, a Vienna Style lager from MillerCoors in 2009. The 2011 holiday season marks the 25th anniversary of Winterfest in Colorado. In April 2010, AC Golden introduced Colorado Native lager, an amber lager made with 100% Colorado ingredients. In 2011 the brewery licensed the Barmen brand, a German style pilsner. Barmen is the name of the town in Germany where Adolph Coors was born. All of the AC Golden Brewing Company beers are sold ONLY in Colorado.

Some people think this is just ‘Coors trying to look like a small batch brewery’, and in fact…I thought that as well before I met Knip and the rest of the guys, but the reality is that it’s 5 guys making beer! Really great beer. They also have world class resources in the beer making world, not a bad thing. If you haven’t tried their suds I recommend highly that you do so!
Thanks Guys for always welcoming the CO360Media and OZ Snowboards Crews!
